The Women’s World Day of Prayer (WDP) is a special event organized by Christian women and prepared each year by a different country. The 2022 liturgy came from the WDP Committee of England, Wales, and Northern Ireland. In Catania, the WDP took place on Sunday, March 27th at the Waldensian temple.
“It was a polyphonic celebration, with readings and prayers given by the sisters of the various churches, and hymns,” said Anna Ciminello, Woman Ministries director of the Adventist local church.
The theme text was "‘For I know the plans that I have for you,’ declares the Lord, 'plans for welfare and not for calamity to give you a future and a hope" (Jeremiah 29:11, NASB ).
“Starting from the vocation of the prophet, I addressed the issue of the deportation of the Jews to Babylon” explained Ciminello “God promised their return to Jerusalem, but not before three generations had passed. His promise was conditional upon the fulfillment of specific requirements: seek the prosperity of the city where they were in exile and avoid contamination with Babylon’s habits".
She then concluded by underlining that "today, more than in the past, millions of people live far from their countries of origin for major causes (wars, persecution, etc.), hoping to return to where they started, but working and contributing to the well-being of the countries where they take refuge. History repeats itself!”
