This short combination of words accompanied the women’s weekend retreat in Lubietová that was focused on the Bible words "But it is good for me to draw near to God" Psalm 73:28 NIV. On the weekend of May 24-26, we women came together from different corners of Slovakia and Czechia, women of various ages and different interests. Friends and strangers met, each with their expectations and ideas. Right on the first evening, after the introductory presentation of the speakers, Sona SILOVA, Dari KUŽMIC, and Ivanka
MÁRFÖLDIOVA, our expectations "joined together into one main thought" that we wanted to accompany this meeting - CLOSER TO EACH OTHER. We suddenly felt the need to be close to ourselves and each other and longed for nearness to God.
On Saturday, all three speakers again immersed us in the ideas of closeness, through the awareness of their roles as mother, wife, and woman, through the story of the prodigal son, through wounds that changed the perception of oneself, through the work and life of another. Although these were difficult realizations at times, they led us to a greater desire
expressed in Psalm 73 "But it is good for me to draw near to God". God's closeness was present among us, as if it were touching us in the quiet breeze, as expressed by Janka GUZANOVÁ, who led the joint worship, and opened our hearts to accept ourselves because our Heavenly Father accepted us long ago. The evening's musical guest from Banská Bystrica, GOSPEL HARMONY, strengthened the atmosphere of the meeting. After their beautiful performance, we continued for a long, long time in pleasant conversations and we felt again
closer to each other.
Sunday was intersected with guest workshops (Dara KUŽMIC photographer and coach, Soňa SILOVÁ preacher, M. Kučera physiotherapist) who helped us heal our hearts, minds and bodies. I think I can say for all the participants of the meeting that we participated in one of the most beautiful weekends of women's gatherings that revealed what a short combination of words like CLOSER TO EACH OTHER can mean. May God's closeness bless us every single day of our lives!
