Women's Weekend Retreat 2025 in Switzerland

The Motto encourages Women to Shine

The Shine Women's Weekend took place in Rickenbach, near Basel, from May 9 to 11, 2025 - and for me it was the first time to attend such a retreat. Although I rarely took part in such events in the past, I was now able to experience how beneficial and enriching such a weekend can be. It was a special time just for us women - a respite from everyday life, especially for those with families and many commitments. Being pampered, not having to cook and starting the day carefree was a real gift.
The diversity of the participants was particularly nice - women from different generations and from all over German-speaking Switzerland. The atmosphere was warm, open and characterized by mutual appreciation.
Happiness - more than just a feeling
The theme of the weekend was happiness. We quickly realized that true happiness cannot be made or held onto - it is a gift from God. The link between biblical truths and scientific findings was particularly inspiring. Studies show that gratitude, community and positive thoughts promote our quality of life - which is exactly what we were able to experience this weekend.
I was reminded of an article in National Geographic (November 2005), which describes how Seventh-day Adventists live longer and healthier lives - thanks to strong social networks, Sabbath rest and a conscious life of faith, among other things. All of this was reflected in the women's weekend: we prayed, laughed, cried, made things, exchanged ideas and built each other up - and experienced real happiness in the process.
Small gestures, big impact
In addition to the impulses, the loving details also made the weekend special: little surprises, delicious meals and a dreamlike setting with a peaceful view. Among other things, praying together in the morning was a special highlight for me - moments in which we were able to share our worries, our praise and our gratitude to God.
The time flew by. I am grateful for the deep encounters and am already looking forward to seeing you again next year.
