During the pandemic, the women's group of the Kisdorf church met in private to read books and share thoughts. This beautiful and enriching activity has become a regular feature of the women's group. For weeks they had exchanged ideas about the book "The Five Love Languages" by Gary Chapman. Therefore, it was no surprise that they chose this very topic for the 2023 Women's Sabbath.
In bright sunshine, church members and guests met at the Adventist church in Kisdorf on June 10, 2023. The sermon was preached by Tita Ventura with much passion. "Do you think you can learn five languages in 12 hours?" That's how Tita started her sermon. What are these languages? Affirmation, acts of service, receiving and giving gifts, quality time, and physical touch.
Many misunderstandings in our communication come from not speaking and understanding the love language of our counterpart. However, our God speaks all languages and so we can be sure that He always understands us in the best way. Tita told us how she discovered her love language and how surprised she was. Do you know your love language?
Four young Filipino women delighted us with their singing. The song: "It Matters to the Master" was especially beautiful because it spoke about the certainty that whatever matters to us is also very relevant to our God. In a second song, we heard that God knows our hearts very well and hears even our silent fears.
In the afternoon we walked through five stations where we heard more about the languages and could share about them. At the end of the tour, we were also able to take a test that gave us an insight into what our love language might be.
We thank the organizers Karen and Ines for a wonderful Sabbath. If you would like to know more about the women's study group, please check out kisdorf.adventist.eu/frauengruppe.
