From time to time, you see advertisements for an open house. The organizers want to showcase their companies and products. It is also interesting to be able to visit a newly built house from the inside. This gives you an insight into what happens there, what and how things are produced, or how people will spend their lives there.
On May 24, the young women of the Adventist church in Freudenstadt organized a slightly different open house. The topic of the church service was: “My Heart – Christ's House”. It was about opening our hearts for Jesus to visit. In a story like a parable, He was allowed to look around the “study,” “dining room,” and “hobby room/workshop.” In the “living room” of the heart, a small ‘closet’ aroused his interest. Something was wrong there. In every “room of the heart,” Jesus Christ was able to change, cleanse, and redesign things.
Christ does not impose himself on anyone. He waits until we are ready to open the door of our hearts and grant him entry. If we allow it, his Spirit will make our lives better, and light will dispel the darkness.
After each “room inspection,” the congregation sang a fitting song. At the end of the “inspection,” Christ received the “title deed” to the house of the heart, so that he could design it according to his will. The congregation was fully involved, and God's blessing was felt. The service ended with a poem: “Behold, I stand at the door” – Will we let him in?
It was a very successful “Women's Sabbath.” To God be the honor, praise, and thanks because everything worked out so well. Jesus said, “...without me you can do nothing.” That was out experience on this Sabbath.
