To celebrate the International Women's Day of Prayer, the Bremen-Vegesack congregation invited Nancy Duske of the Women’s Ministries Department of the Hanse Conference to their church on March 9. The team of Lydia, Barbara, and Gudrun, put together a beautiful program. The service was translated into Ukrainian, as there is a group of refugees who participate in the church services and bless others with their musical talents. At the end of the service, all the women were presented with a rose.
The motto for this year was: "Ignite your prayer life."
According to the story of Hannah in 1 Samuel 1, 1-11, we reflected during the sermon on how God answers our prayers. Hannah emptied her heart and then let go, leaving everything in God's hands. So we also pray in such a way that we trust God entirely?
Hannah was accompanied by two people in her grief, her husband Elkanah and Eli the priest, who assured her of God's compassion. We also need such people on our journey and we are invited to become such people ourselves.
Here is a little feedback from one of the participants:
”I liked it very much. The sermon about prayer once again gave me new insights and stimulated reflection. During the potluck together, there was a good exchange of ideas and I particularly enjoyed the interactive part of the afternoon event. The response from the congregation was also positive."
