From October 23rd to 25th we were supposed to be gathering for a women’s meeting that had already once been postponed in Bohemian Conference in Czech Republic. Unfortunately, second wave of Covid is currently sweeping our country, churches are closed, meetings prohibited, and new restrictions pop up every day.
We may be limited in the traditional ways we are used to meet and communicate yet we are not discouraged to find new ways to „be together“. We took advantage of YouTube and our well established channels for transmitting worships online (you can visit the channel called „bohosluzbyonline“ for online transmission as well as an archive of worships, concerts and lectures from one of the Prague churches). On Friday evening October 23rd we aired a special online program with Ráchel Bícová, therapist and lecturer, who was scheduled to be our main speaker that weekend. We took advantage of her experience and expertise and called this online program “How to stay close to people with mental problems”. We talked about the impact of the current situation on people’s mental health, outlined simple ways to improve it and discussed possibilities people have in looking for help. Finally, Rachel shared her view on how our faith can help in stressful situations and offered the powerful message: “Where is God? He is where He’s always been. And that’s what I can lean on. We don’t need to be heroes. We are allowed to be scared. But my experience with God’s leadership in my past gives me strength.”
