On September 16, 2016, 39 women and 4 men arrived in St. Stephan for a women’s retreat. The speaker was Angelika Pfaller, Director of Women’s Ministries in Germany, and her Motto was „On our way – alone or together?“
After a delicious supper wir started with the topic “Our train of life”. Our life is like a trip with a train und all are on their way. Some with a fast train, others with a local train or even an underground. New people get on board and others get off. It is a journey full of joy, pain, greetings and goodbyes. We never know at which station we will get off. That’s why we live, love, forgive and give our best.
On the Sabbath morning we dealt with the story of Sara. In spite of God’s promise that she would have a son, Sara was convinced that she had to help God. We learned from Sara’s life that in spite of our crooked ways God can let something positive be the outcome.
We also thought about the metaphor “Labyrinth” and realized that our life is often like a maze. The most important thing is to get one’s bearings from the rock in the centre – Jesus Christ. We also looked at the lives of some women of the Bible who met Jesus. One of them was Mary of Magdala, whom Jesus called by her name after his resurrection. God calls you by your name as well and has plans for your life. The final thought was that we should invest time and energy in people we want to see in heaven.
In addition to Angelika’s inputs we had ample time for sharing, praise and prayer. Thanks to the team who organized the weekend and the men who worked in the kitchen to regale us with delicious meals.
