Women’s Group Outing to the Rhine River

Thoughts on Peace

Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” John 14:27 NIV
With this thought in mind, the women from the women's breakfast group Dillenburg set off for an outing to the town Kaub at 7.00 a.m. on April 30, 2023, all in a good mood and beautiful weather. After a wonderful guided tour of the town and a walk, they were fascinated by the famous Palatinate near Kaub. Like a stone ship at anchor, the Pfalzgrafenstein castle stands in the middle of the Rhine. Today, it is one of the landmarks that stands not only for the region and all of Germany. The Palatinate, the town of Kaub, and Gutenfels Castle are all worthwhile destinations. But our excursion continued to Saint Goarshausen and the Loreley.
The myth of Loreley is still unbroken today. It is an enchanting legend. The unpredictable currents and the special nature of the Rhine valley at the foot of the Loreley rock were the cause of the legend about a beautiful blonde maiden, who with her beauty and her singing brought countless fishermen to their doom. Even today, skippers are challenged by the conditions.
During the one-and-a-half-hour round trip by ship, you could let your imagination run wild and admire the Rhine in all its glory. The group made a stop in St. Goarshausen to admire the many sights before taking a later ship back to the starting point.
Through the peaceful experience, the group became aware that there is no greater peace than God’s peace (Col 3:15).
