On March 2, 2024, the International Day of Prayer, our church in Jesi celebrated this special Sabbath with the sermon prepared by the Women's Ministries Department (WM) of the General Conference and translated by the national WM, entitled "Ignite Your Prayer Life".
We started with the children’s story proposed by the resources. It was the story of the miraculous recovery of a stroke-stricken dad, thanks to constant prayers, especially by his little girl. The sermon followed, and in the introduction, Petronella Tanasa of the local WM group made us relive the prayerful moments we shared when her son had a bad moped accident, and his health condition was quite serious. Again, through prayer, there was a miracle of healing attested to by the doctors as well. This testimony reminded us of the power of prayer to God. In Him we must always take refuge and trust, not only in the most difficult times of our lives; and this was also emphasized.
Then, Patrizia Grilli, a church elder, spoke about the four ways in which prayer can ignite our lives: change, hope, unity, and forgiveness.
Elizabeth Penagos Estrada, local church WM director, ended the sermon by inviting everyone to constant prayer and asking six women to come with a card in their hands to remember the six prayer issues that impact women globally: abuse, poverty, health, illiteracy, workload, leadership opportunities. We prayed for those issues. A seedling with a Bible verse was given to all the women in our church.
As reported by Patrizia Grilli, from the Adventist church in Jesi.
