Women’s Day of Encounter in Lucerne, Switzerland

Open Doors and Girls4Christ Draw a Crowd

More than 110 women attended the January 21, 2018, Women’s Day of Encounter in Lucerne. The focus was on Christians and in particular Christian women who are persecuted and abused for their faith in Jesus Christ in more than 50 countries of the world.
Gabi, a representative of Open Doors, presented examples of some of the affected women, particularly in Muslim countries, which made the audience sad and speechless. What people can do to other human beings in the name of the so-called “only true” religion is horrible and shattering . Many of the experiences showed great courage and toleration on the part of the victims. In spite of all, forgiveness and even love towards enemies can assert itself! These women experience a piece of freedom and community in the secret home churches which are mostly led by women.
In the afternoon the group created greeting cards as a small token of solidarity towards persecuted women, encouraging them and reminding them of God’s presence. This was also a time for the women who had come from all parts of Switzerland, even from Ticino, to share and visit.
The organization Open Doors has been working since 1955 to strengthen the position of persecuted Christians in society and politics in various ways.
According to a report by Chris Pohling
At the same time the girls4Christ team had prepared a separate program for teenage girls under the topic “I and my Body,” with expert advice from Rebecca Benz, a midwife.
