“Mirror, mirror on the wall! Who is the fairest of them all?” What girl hasn't admired the beautiful Snow White and wished to be just as beautiful as her one day? To find Prince Charming? And live happily ever after? The hearts of young women are full of wishes, dreams, and hopes, and we all long to see these dreams come true. But at the same time, we struggle with inner insecurities, external pressures, prejudices, social expectations...How can I learn to deal with this and still find my own way through life? These and many other questions occupied us during the “Women of Grace” weekend in Wolfstein, Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. Through shared prayer, singing, and Bible study, we explored these topics and deepened our understanding of them in many hours of enriching conversations. In just two days, a diverse group of women became good friends. Together, we let our creativity run wild: We decorated mirrors with Bible verses, painted and wrote little cards for each other, made and listened to music together, and lovingly embellished our notebooks. We listened eagerly to the devotions and, at the same time, planned a joint youth Sabbath. We poured out our hearts to each other and prayed with and for each other, experiencing the magic of fellowship among like-minded people. We felt how God filled us with His love and opened our hearts to one another. And despite the short time we spent together, we grew so fond of each other that saying goodbye on Sunday was anything but easy. What a blessing to know that we can take all the good thoughts, love, and familiarity with us into the new week, and know that there will be a next time. And until then, we will accompany each other in our thoughts and prayers and find peace in the knowledge that God always brings his children together again.
