This is a condensed version of the report of the Spanish participants of the Women in Ministry Conference
"Strengthening our Faith"
Not frequently do we women leaders who work in ministry have the privilege of training, getting to know each other, strengthening callings, and enjoying other places. However, from February 4-8, 2024, 60 women in leadership positions from all over Europe have had the privilege of enjoying a few days together at Villa Aurora (Florence, Italy) in a meeting entitled "Strengthening our Faith". That's right, 60 women from all over Europe: France, Italy, Belgium, Czechoslovakia, Portugal, Germany, and Spain, came together to grow in the Lord. They represented the various departments of the church as well as women pastors.
Speakers of "Strengthening our faith".
As leaders and women representing different departments and institutions of our Division, we were able to enjoy the inspiring topics of: Audrey Andersson, vice president of the General Conference; Kessia Reyne Bennett, pastor in the Oregon Conference; and Edyta Jankiewicz, secretary of the Women's Ministries Ministerial Association of the South Pacific Division.Their presence and wisdom illuminated the crucial themes of calling, faithfulness, and discipleship in this gathering that truly strengthened our faith. The event was also attended by Pastor Mario Brito, president of the European Division, and Dagmar Dorn, director of EUD Women's Ministries, who guided through the morning sessions, providing spiritual direction and inspirational leadership.
We sincerely thank the team responsible for the flawless management and organization of the event, led by Ventsislav Panayotov, the Ministerial Association Director, and his wife Varta, as well as Regina Fleischmann, administrative assistant. Their dedication ensured the success and smooth running of every moment.
The Topics
The themes presented by these leaders emphasized the importance of a deep relationship with God. From prioritizing daily moments of spiritual connection to cultivating meaningful relationships with trusted friends, each reflection aimed to strengthen the bond with God and with others. We were encouraged to give our best without forgetting that our ministry is directed by the Lord, that we work for Him, and that the limits to our efforts translate into blessings for each activity.
Of course, we also set aside an afternoon to explore the beauty of Florence and enjoy its exquisite cuisine. These moments of camaraderie and delight perfectly complemented the atmosphere of spiritual growth and fellowship. At the end of the event, everyone expressed their gratitude for the time spent in Florence. More than an educational experience, it was a space in our agendas for spiritual and personal growth, guided by the loving hand of God and the transforming work of the Holy Spirit in each heart present.
With renewed hearts, we continue to serve the Lord, knowing that the work will soon be finished and that we are privileged to be able to participate in it. Each one of us, from the place where we are, form a living church committed to the Mission.
"Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me – put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you… And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus." (Philippians 4:9, 19 NIV).
According to a report by Isabel Rodríguez, director of Possibilities Ministries for the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Spain.
