Esther Azon, one of the editors of the Spanish Revista Adventista, wrote a detailed article on what it means to be a Christian woman today that was published on March 8, International Women’s Day.
“What does it mean, in the 21st century, to be a Christian woman? To begin with, we are daughters of God, purchased by the very blood of Christ, and our ministries are absolutely valid. Many of us have been called by the Lord and we have the support of many Christian men, although not all of them.
The Lord has also called us to fulfill our duty in the mission of sharing the gospel. It is not a competition between men and women. We must work together, united, with the gifts that the Lord has given us, to accomplish our ministry. To discredit women is to discredit the church itself. To demean her is contrary to Christianity itself. We are one body and one family in Christ. For the Lord, women have always been valuable.”
She concludes with the words, “True Christians treat women with the respect and love with which Christ treated them. We could make extensive reflections on Jesus and his treatment of Mary Magdalene, or the Samaritan woman, etc. A true Christian man will love and respect women as the Lord did. True Christian women will also reflect the character of Jesus.”
