As part of the leadership training offered by the Women's Ministries Department in German-speaking countries, Level 2 was offered via Zoom from February 25 to 28, 2021. About 40 women from Belgium, Germany, Luxembourg and Switzerland met from Thursday evening to Sunday noon to work together on various topics. Among the topics were time management, event planning, small groups, strengthening new church members, women in the Old Testament and prayer.
Opportunities for personal exchange were provided in private breakout sessions as well as in plenary sessions and the women were happy to share with each. The trusting openness with which some participants made themselves vulnerable was deeply impressive, as was the heartfelt sympathy and appreciation that was shown to them despite their digital distance. There was a warm-hearted group feeling in virtual space, maybe just because for some this format was the only way they could ever have been able to participate in the training.
Not everything is bad. Our challenge is to discover the possibilities with open eyes and to use and maintain them in the weeks ahead to really meet one another.
