As most of the refugees from Ukraine that arrive in our European countries are women and children, it only seems natural that Women’s Ministries are involved in caring for them. In the Seventh-Day Adventist church in Tübingen, Germany, women are the backbone of the programs that were started when the first refugees arrived. About 30 Ukrainians attend our church services and stay for the pot-luck lunch that is organized afterward. It is a joy to see that the church has become a real home and a new family to these people. In order to deepen friendships between the Germans and Ukrainians, a friendship night was organized on June 21, with pizza and games in the church backyard. Everyone had lots of fun and judging from the feedback, the occasion was much appreciated.
Women are also in charge of the Samovar evenings with a program in Ukrainian. A language class for German has also started. Fortunately, we have people with language skills who help with communication and we are happy to provide an open house to any who come and want to help or be a part of our community.
