In February this year, the Association “Ianna-Floarea-aleasă” opened a training program for young people and adults with disabilities to help them develop skills for integration and participate fully in society. The program was of short duration (2 months). The meetings were very well received, and everyone involved was very enthusiastic. One of the pleasant surprises was that four volunteers from the US military participated. They took part in the activities, got involved, and helped to run the program together with their coordinator, who is in charge of volunteering activities in the US Army.
Here is what Simona Anca, the program coordinator, tells us:
"The last activity took place at Remar, in the center of Turzii. The first part of the day took us into a world of visual excitement at the “Valer Suciu” art gallery in Turda. There, we discovered together the exhibition “Amprentele” by artist Dumitru Popa, an explosion of color, expressiveness, and artistic freedom. Our children connected with art beyond words. There, disabilities did not exist. There was only the joy of looking, of feeling, of being. For a few moments, each child was part of a world where beauty is available for all. The adults watched with open hearts a marvelous exhibition that left a strong imprint of beauty and truth. Art is not what you see but what it conveys to each individual heart through life experiences and lessons learned."
Thus ended a wonderful stage, full of joy and beauty, with children, volunteers, parents, and teachers.
