Ticino Women's Meeting

God in my Life

On Sunday, October 9, a meeting organized by Swiss Romande and Ticino Conference Women's Ministries (WM), entitled "God in My Life," was held at the Adventist Church in Locarno Losone. About forty sisters from the different local churches in Ticino participated, with the purpose of recounting, but above all, listening and sharing testimonies of how God has acted in each of their lives.
The day began with a sweet and pleasant surprise, a rich welcome buffet, organized with the special help of some brothers from the church, starting the day in the right spirit of brotherly love. After “refueling”, we went to the worship hall, where the WM leaders of the conference, Bernadette and Karin, the speakers of the meeting, were waiting, along with Sarah and Sabrina, who were in charge of the music. Songs of praise began to warm our hearts, and before long we felt the Holy Spirit infuse our hearts with the love that only God can manifest.
We were asked two important questions that would develop the activity planned in the meeting. The first question was intended for each participant individually to reflect on ‘HOW GOD HAS CHANGED MY LIFE’. Each woman was invited to write on a sheet of paper the feeling aroused in imagining HOW GOD HAS CHANGED MY LIFE.
Each of us responded individually and the responses were many, mostly of joy, gratitude, love, respect, and relief, but also those who relived past traumas such as abandonment or anger.
The second activity was very uplifting because we had the opportunity to share with our sisters, in groups of 4-5 people, the experiences and life testimonies we had experienced before individually, and with great amazement, we noticed a huge difference between the activity done individually and in groups.
It was unbelievable and wonderful to hear how despite the different life stories and experiences we felt such harmony and sincerely accumulated a feeling of relief and lightness in having shared among sisters our pain, suffering, and defeats but also joy, victory, hope, and the love of Christ that we could even smell it in the room. Thus we understood how important it is to share our faith and witness in groups.
During the meeting, we sang different praise songs such as Only in Jesus. While singing, we felt as if God's angels were singing with us because the melody was so harmonious and in tune as if heaven was singing.
There were many moments when several sisters testified. One sister was freed from smoking, another from a sense of abandonment, yet another told how she shares her faith with her patients, and each one gave a testimony of how great and powerful God is, even more generous than we can imagine.
It was a unique experience that we recommend to all women who want to draw closer to God, because only in Christ will we be victorious.
