Even though the Covid-19 restrictions keep us apart, we can still come together through modern media. The power of God helps us to use creativity and flexibility to reach people with a message. The involvement of the Espoir Médias team made possible the recording of the meeting planned by the Women's Ministries department of the Swiss Romande and Tessin Conference (FSRT) in two languages - Italian and French.
The topic addressed was: What are Women's Ministries?
On February 21, 2021, the Women's Ministries Department (WM) of the FSRT invited women from all walks of life, from Switzerland, but also from France, Belgium and Italy, to share their aspirations, their possibilities and especially their conviction to accompany WM invited Dagmar Dorn, EUD Women’s Ministries Director, for a unique event in French-speaking Switzerland entirely recorded on video.
After a meditation presented by Bernadette Fogliani, WM leader at the Conference, Dagmar first developed and explained the purpose of women's ministries and the importance of what women can do in our churches to carry a message. Nurture, empower and outreach are the three keywords that promote a message of unity among women. WM's primary goal is to move forward and above all to be involved in a relationship with God and the church, but also to support women and respond to their needs. Women need to be touched in the environment in which they live. They can be involved in projects or activities within their churches. The role of WM is also to value and encourage women to develop their talents. That is why WM encourage women to be involved in the life of their family, church and community lending a listening ear and a warm heart towards others, inspiring them to walk with God.
After a short musical interlude, the session continued. This time, Dagmar developed an important topic: how to reach and help young girls. She presented the Girls4Christ project with enthusiasm. G4C is a meaningful project concentrating on young girls from our churches and their friends, providing them with support on a variety of subjects. The goal is to develop their self-esteem as persons of value in God’s eyes and to prepare them for life.
"Be the woman you would have needed when you were their age,” was Dagmar’s advice. She told us to help the girls develop a love for God and others. By talking with them, caring for them and accompanying them they will feel supported and be able to accomplish great things in the future.
WM is really about encouraging and listening to women of all ages in and outside the church. The meeting ended with this impression of what Women’s Ministries is about.
It is with this intention that this meeting ended. Lots of material has been developed that can be used to accompany women and girls and the WM team is at your disposal for any questions you may have. mifem(at)adventiste(dot)ch
