Slot for Women's Ministries in Adventist Radio in Italy

A series of programs on RVS, Adventist radio in Italy, dedicated to Women's Ministries (WM) of the Inter-European Division (EUD) began on Aug. 16. Daniela Piazza, of RVS Catania (in Sicily), interviewed Dagmar Dorn, EUD WM Director, with translation into Italian by Gloria Mangiarotti. RVS also gives space to national WM by alternating broadcasts each week.
In the first episode, Dagmar told about herself, her work as a midwife, and her commitment on behalf of women in her work for the Adventist Church. She presented the three pillars of WM - nurture, empower, and outreach - and her commitment to gender abuse and violence through the Enditnow project. Dagmar also told about her experiences as a midwife. She discovered that her profession and mission have something in common. "If as a midwife you have the task of helping women give birth to their babies," Daniela emphasized on the radio program, "as the head of Women's Ministries you have the task of equipping women to let their light shine to others."
On August 30, the second episode entitled "The Women's Crucible" aired. Dagmar spoke about the strengths and frailties of women. This is certainly a broad topic, especially considering that women often have more responsibilities as wives, mothers, and workers. Dagmar highlighted how difficult women's lives are in some societies around the world, often maltreated from birth because a son (male) is preferred over a daughter (female). This all leads to women's suffering and inability to achieve their potential.
As mentioned in the beginning, programs with Dagmar alternate with those of national women's ministries: on Tuesdays, the connection is with Bern, and on Mondays of the following week, the connection is with Rome. In the August 22 program, the national WM leader spoke about training women to help them discover their talents and find a "place" for growth and sharing. This was summed up in the motto "A ministry for every woman."
