On the occasion of the Prayer for Peace on the 3rd anniversary of the attack on Ukraine, a fundraising campaign was launched in the Adventist Church in Tübingen (Germany) under the patronage of the Mayor to give new hope and support to traumatized wives of fallen soldiers in Ukraine. The group of Ukrainian Refugees in Tübingen put on an impressive program on February 22 and also invited volunteers from Ukraine to talk about how they bring practical aid to the suffering population near the front. Donations amounting to €1200 were collected that evening. However, the fundraising campaign for rest cures for the wives of fallen Ukrainian soldiers is continuing, and the sum is growing. In the meantime, we already have a first result of the campaign, as the President of the Western Conference of Seventh-day Adventists in Ukraine reports in a letter:
"Wives of fallen Ukrainian soldiers are given new courage to face life through a recovery cure in the Barvinok recovery center. Thirty women who had lost their husbands in the war took part in a recovery cure in April 2025 at the Barvinok health center near Lviv. The cure lasted 10 days and included various elements:
- Three healthy meals per day
- A medical examination
- Selection of a recovery program for each individual
- Massage
- Water treatments - various showers, swimming, sauna etc.
- Individual sessions with a psychologist
- Workshops in handicrafts
- Spiritual reflections
- Poetry, music, and singing
- Morning gymnastics
- Walks in nature
The widows were very pleased and grateful! They expressed their gratitude to both the organizers and the sponsors who made this program financially possible!
On behalf of the founders of the program and the Seventh-day Adventist Church, which owns the Barvinok Health Center, we would like to thank you for the donations that helped make this program possible. We would also like to express our heartfelt thanks to Mayor Palmer of the City of Tübingen for his support!
You have achieved great things, because with your donations you have made these women happy and rekindled joy and a zest for life in their eyes! May the Lord richly bless you for your generosity and kindness! Christ said: “Whatever you did for one of the least of these, you did for me.” Thank you! Be blessed!
Yours sincerely,
President of the Western Conference of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Ukraine
Vasyl Chopyk
Lviv, April 10, 2025"
Inspired by the varied program, many of the women also showed interest in discovering the reason why Adventists show them so much love and wanted to get to know the Bible.
Further activities are planned in Tübingen to collect donations so that this work can be continued and many more women can be helped.
