The last Women’s Ministries continuing education course in Switzerland was in June 2020. That is why the women were delighted that there would be an R.E.A.L. plus (Continuing Education) weekend in Rickenbach, BL, from November 21 to 24, 2024. Under difficult winter conditions, the participants traveled from Norway, Germany, Belgium, and Switzerland. Pampered by delicious food and an enchanting snowy landscape, we immersed ourselves in the topic of 'mentoring'. We tried to draw a clear distinction between coaching and pastoral care, experienced the perspectives of mentees and mentors, looked at various examples in the Bible, and embarked on a journey of discovery into very personal life experiences. It was a process of deep immersion and self-reflection in which friction was inevitable. Facing this honestly offers everyone the chance to grow - personally and towards others. And of course, there was room for laughter and amazement, for instance, when one participant jumped into the wintry outdoor pool.
This weekend was just the start of a 'mentoring culture' in which we share wisdom and life values with others.
