R.E.A.L. #1 - Continuing Education Seminar in Sandkrug, Germany (February 6-9)

This is the way to learn!

Discussing and working on life issues together is not only important in our private lives, at work, or in our involvement in our local churches. It also brings us closer together and allows us to grow personally.
The Christian Guesthouse in Sandkrug welcomes its visitors from the first moment with its experienced team. The seminar leader and lecturers knew how to incorporate this framework into the organization in the best possible way. All the participants had to do was to turn up at the right place at the right time and engage with the topics, the discussions, and the warm fellowship. In addition, there was a stimulating, lively learning concept. Talking, experiencing, guiding, living was reality, not dry theory.
The participants came from Switzerland and all corners of Germany. Some were attending such a seminar for the first time. They came just in time for the anniversary: 30th Anniversary - Women's Ministries 1995 - 2025. And with that, we got straight into the topic: The history and philosophy of the Women's Ministries Department. “When a great and decisive work is to be done, God chooses men and women to do this work, and it will see the loss if the talents of both are not combined.” —Evangelism, 469.
It is worth considering how women have helped set our church on its path and shaped it from the very beginning. Other important topics followed. For example, we looked at the historical and biblical development of the role of women and notable women in the Bible, such as the courageous deaconess Phoebe, who was sent by Paul to bring a letter from the Greek Cenchreans to Rome (Romans 16:1-2).
Challenging and valuable was “A Question of Attitude” in the intervention and prevention of violence. Furthermore, skills for successful communication and conflict management were developed. Based on Maslow's pyramid of needs, we became aware of how we can develop needs-oriented offers of help. Good self-care is part of all of this.
The start of the Sabbath on Friday evening was a special experience. In the atmospherically designed seminar room, we came together to pray, share our experiences with God, sing a lot, and enjoy a freshly baked challa, with salt and grape juice.
Praying again and again, thanking God and asking for his blessing for our learning and our community, singing with wonderful piano accompaniment, that was the most important “framework” for the enriching days, from which we returned to our everyday lives strengthened and with new impulses.
With heartfelt thanks to the organizers for the seminar we have just experienced, we can already look forward to R.E.A.L. #2 from 23 - 26 October 2025 in Bad Salzschlirf.
