The Italian Union has a new Women’s Ministries Director after Lina Ferrara retired due to her husband’s and her health challenges. She stepped in to fill the vacancy at the Women’s Ministries Department at the turn of the year 2019/2020. We thank Lina for her leadership, particularly during the pandemic’s difficult times. Her cooperation with the FdeI (Organization of Italian Evangelical Women) has also been impressive. As we thank her for her work for the Women’s Ministries department, we wish her health and happiness in whatever the Lord leads her to do in the future.
The new director is Abigaela Trofin, originally from Romania, who has worked as a pastor in Italy for 20 years. She studied law and theology in Romania and has a Master’s degree in Education and Family Relations from Montemorelos University and she is completing her Master’s degree in Religious Freedom from Villa Aurora in Florence. Currently she pastors the Adventist churches in Catania, Lentini and Augusta.
Abigaela is not new to Women’s Ministries, having been responsible for the department in Northern Italy for 10 years. She has also led the Scouts department in Northern Italy for 10 years. She was born into an Adventist family in 1973 and has a 26-year-old son. She is passionate about diving, scouting, traveling, reading, and being a human being. Her priority is to follow God wherever he leads her, trusting him in moments of success and failure, of serenity and tears.
We warmly welcome Abigaela Trofin to the sisterhood of Women’s Ministries Directors and wish her God’s richest blessings as she takes on this huge task in addition to her work as the pastor for the three churches that she is in charge of. May God give her the needed strength. We trust the Italian church leadership will give her the necessary support.
