On the afternoon of Saturday, March 16, the Bari Adventist Church hosted a conference organized by the Federation of Evangelical Women in Italy (Fdei) and the Waldensian and Methodist Evangelical Women's Federation (Ffevm) entitled "Motherhood, Work, Health, in Women's Lives and Bodies."
This meeting was the second on the topic of women's relationship with the world of work. This topic is "at the center of the reflection of our organizations, along with training and commitment against violence," said Fdei President Mirella Manocchio. The first conference was held in Rome in February 2024.
The meeting began with an agape meal. Many women from different parts of Italy and from evangelical churches in the Apulian territory attended. After the agape there followed a beautiful moment in which activities were organized for the purpose of getting to know each other. An atmosphere of joyful serenity fostered the next activity entitled "A Dance for Life." Manuela Lops, from Apid Dmt, led the whole group in a dance therapy workshop, demonstrating how certain movements and gestures can contribute to our psychophysical well-being.
A short break followed, until 5 p.m. when a meeting for the general public began.
The theme was "Our Challenge for a More Just Future." Mariangela Monforte, secretary of the Bari CGIL, pointed out, with much frankness, the many issues that still exist against women in the workplace, and gave many tips on how to assert one's rights, at least as far as it is possible today. Baptist pastor Gabriela Lio gave the biblical viewpoint and moderated the discussion that followed.
The meeting pleased all present who were certainly enriched with new knowledge in the area of labor rights. In an atmosphere of cordial friendship we said our goodbyes, hoping to meet again soon for new initiatives.
