Minus or Plus – How to deal with negative Emotions

Women’s Retreat with Sylvia Renz

The Women’s Ministries retreat with Sylvia Renz from November 16-18, 2018, in Freudenstadt, Germany, was attended by about 60 women. Her topic was “How to deal with negative Emotions”. Sylvia conveyed to the participants in her profound, fascinating and humorous way that the “less appreciated” emotions like shame, fear, distrust, trouble, pain, anger, weakness and grief have protective functions and positive aspects that we often do not recognize at first glance. These are self-reflection, motivation towards protection, gratitude, change etc. For many of our women and their friends it was a light-bulb experience to see these less appreciated emotional companions in a different light. Apart from the very enriching presentations by the smart, vivacious and quick-witted speaker who gave insights into her private life in order to illustrate her points, there were other highlights that made the weekend a very special experience: among other things a thoughtfully prepared and decorated prayer room. Some of the details: A table with chocolates - “Taste and see that the Lord is good” Psalm 34:8); a selection of prayer and devotional books; a prayer corner with fairy lights and pillows. There was also a balloon activity, fun workshops, creative choices and of course lots of new friends. We are so grateful for these special days with prayer and communion with God and look forward to the two retreats in the coming year. Many women registered for them right away in order to be sure to get a place.
