Lecture on Women's Health for Migrant Women

Breast Cancer Awareness

As part of the work of ADRA Switzerland, a special event for migrant women took place on Sunday, January 25, in the SDA church in Berne, Switzerland. ADRA runs a support centre there for socially disadvantaged people and migrants, where basic food items are distributed free of charge. These encounters provide not only practical assistance but also create personal connections and further opportunities for support and assistance.
On this Sunday, the organizers invited the women to attend a lecture on women’s health. The focus was on breast cancer awareness, early detection, and prevention. Translation for the different nationalities present was provided, and care was taken to ensure that this sensitive topic could be discussed in a safe and trusting environment.
Dagmar Dorn, a midwife and registered nurse and EUD Women’s Ministries Director, shared her professional knowledge in clear and accessible language. She aimed to reduce fear and inform the women about preventive healthcare options and services available in Switzerland—services that many migrant women are often unaware of.
Around 30 women participated in the lecture with great interest, listened attentively, and asked questions. After the presentation, the event concluded with healthy snacks and refreshments, offering time for fellowship and conversation. Childcare was also provided during the event, enabling the women to attend the lecture without distraction.
