Do we need all the gifts that will be exchanged this Christmas? Think of the best gifts you could make: helping women achieve their educational goals.
This Christmas season, what are the very best gifts: Gifts for our sisters in Bolivia, Madagascar, Trinidad or Israel? Funds to help an orphan graduate from university? Gifts to provide an agriculture major for Zambia? Gifts that will ease a woman’s burden as she struggles to complete college? Gifts to bless our sisters and all those they will bless? LET THEM KNOW! Let’s tell our friends and families that the very best gifts, the ones we want most, are their donations to Scholarshipping Our Sisters, via checks or PayPal, gifts that make our world better, strengthen our sisters, and honor Jesus Christ, the best Christmas gift of all.
In the SOS newsletter we are introduced to a young woman who is studying Theology at the Adventist University in Spain:
Lost Jobs. Found Jesus.
“My name is Ursula, and I am majoring in Theology at Sagunto Adventist University in Spain. When I was young, I would have never imagined that life would bring me here. My family and I were Catholic. My mother had always wanted to know more about Jesus, but she never found answers that satisfied her. She taught my sister and me that God was good, but I never understood why there was so much bad in the world.
I was born in Peru, my family’s home country, but when I was eight we moved to Spain because of economic and political problems. In 2008, I was in college, but due to the economic crisis, I had to drop out and get a job. Because the economy was so bad, we all lost jobs, but that became an unexpected blessing. We had time to watch Logos TV where we were introduced to the Adventist Church. This brought hope and light into our lives. Suddenly everything had meaning. The pieces of my life fit together. We accepted the truths presented and were baptized. Now I believe the Lord has led me to this university to study theology. I am active in our church as Sabbath school leader for children and for young people. I also volunteer with ADRA. I like to help others, to listen to their problems and offer help.
The Women’s Ministries scholarship will be a tremendous help with my tuition. My mother is a widow who now works caring for several elderly people. My sister and I do not have regular employment but do house cleaning. Thank you so much to all those who make this help available. May God bless you.”
