Girls4Christ Workshop in Valencia

At the European Adventist Youth Congress, August 1-5, 2017 in Valencia (Spain), over 4000 young people from the European countries of the EUD and the TED met. The Workshop „Girs4Christ (G4C)“ was one of more than 70 different workshops from which the participants were able to choose. So it was exciting for me to meet with 25 colorful mixed participants from the different European countries. They got a brief introduction as to how g4C started in the Inter-European Division and what great possibilities are created when you start a G4C group. The importance and value of participation in such a group for girls where they encourage each other was shared through particular reports. Alessia Röske (an active volunteer in the G4C work at the Hansa Conference in the North-German Union) was able to report directly from her experiences. Girls today are looking for real answers to their real questions, which they face in their teen- and young-adult age years. The purpose of our Ministry is: to help girls find mutual acceptance, create a safe environment, have fun together, meet new friends, learn how to share their faith with others, strengthening their experience of faith, and to find encouragement to their own commitment in our churches and the society, to build healthy relationships and to work together with God.
The reaction of these 25 young people underlined the importance of G4C. I wish that many more could have experienced the joy that we received through this workshop.
During the next days, many young people, girls as well as boys, visited the booth, attracted by the G4C-roll up. As the workshop was scheduled right at the beginning of the congress some young people would have liked to attend a repeat session, but this was not included in the congress plans. The additional G4C information material offered at the booth was also of interest.
Some of the boys expressed their regret that there is nothing similar for boys. The give-aways – 600 rubber wristbands and T-Shirts – were very popular and even boys wore the wristbands with the G4C logo.
This fantastic and impressive event was really a blessing for me and many others.
