Girls4Christ is a church-oriented development project aimed specifically at teenage girls. The goal is to accompany and empower young women during a formative phase of their lives and to give them guidance, structure, and support so that they can grow into responsible, loving women—with God's Word as their guide.
Dora M. (16) wanted to get the teenage girls in her church to spend a special night together.
Hear what she has to say in a short interview with Dora by Nancy Duske:
Nancy: Hello, Dora. I heard you organized a girls' night in Barmbek yesterday. Tell us a little bit about it. How old were the girls?
Dora: Well, there were eight girls there, aged 13 to 19. We did worship, we did Bible study, we made a prayer board, and we enjoyed fellowship.
Nancy: That's wonderful. And who is “we”? Who helped organize it?
Dora: Just me. All by myself.
Nancy: All by yourself? And why did you do that?
Dora: Because I thought that the young people here in Barmbek had become a bit complacent, and I wanted the girls in particular to get to know each other better and just have a sense of community...exactly.
Nancy: And do you want to do that again?
Dora: Definitely, yes.
Nancy: What was the feedback from the girls?
Dora: Well, they all said it was really good. They also really liked the topic. And the crafts we did and so on, that was always positive.
Nancy: How did you come up with the idea of organizing a girls' night in the first place?
Dora: I go to another church, the ICF, and we have a youth night there every Friday. Then I talked to my mom and she said I could plan something like that for the girls in Barmbek.
Nancy: That's wonderful. I'm really happy for you. What would you recommend to others who want to start something like that?
Dora: Just start. Just set a date and plan accordingly. And if something goes wrong, it's not a big deal. The important thing is that you do it.
Nancy: And have you thought about a theme or just different worship stories in general?
Dora: Well, I asked several girls what they would like the theme to be. And in the end, we decided on prayer. That's important for our relationship with Jesus. And what we want to strengthen first is our relationship with God.
Nancy: Wonderful. Yes, I'm glad you're doing that. I'm super proud of you. And we in the Women's Ministries department want to continue supporting you. I hope you do it again next year. Have you thought about repeating it? And how often?
Dora: Yes, we've thought about repeating it. We haven't planned when yet. But it will definitely happen again.
Nancy: Once a year, or do you want to do it several times a year?
Dora: Probably once a year for now. And then, if the girls feel like it, maybe once every six months.
Nancy: Wonderful. Just one more question. How much time did you invest in organizing this?
Dora: That's a difficult question. I estimate about 10 hours in total to plan everything.
Nancy: Yes, great. I'm very happy. Thank you so much for doing this. It takes a village to raise a child. And I'm glad that you are now part of the village and are helping other girls to have a relationship with Jesus. Thank you.
We would be delighted if you would also organize inspiration days in your churches. Please feel free to contact us. We are happy to help.
