First Women's Ministries Sabbath in Hamburg Harburg

Celebrating The Role of Women in our Communities

On August 23, 2025, the Harburg Adventist Church held its first Women's Sabbath. It was a great pleasure for me to organize this event together with the ladies of the church. The community that was formed on this Sabbath is priceless.
Before one of the organizers reports about her experiences and impressions of the day, I would like to point out why women's retreats or Women's Sabbaths are so important and indispensable.

Why are Women's Retreats or Women's Sabbaths so Important and Indispensable?
A Women's Sabbath is a time when women can focus on their spiritual role and their connection to God. It is an opportunity to emphasize the importance of rest, reflection, and community. It provides a space for women to share their experiences, challenges, and successes, leading to a stronger community and mutual support.
In many congregations, Women's Sabbath is also used to discuss topics such as education, health, and social justice that are important (not only) to women. This promotes not only spiritual growth but also personal and community engagement.
Overall, Women's Sabbath is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate and strengthen the role of women in our communities while deepening fellowship and spiritual life.

Jessica’s report:
"It was a totally successful day, which began with a wonderful sermon by Nancy on the theme ‘Hemmed in on all sides,’ Psalm 139. The certainty that God is at our side in all circumstances and at all times strengthened and encouraged us.
As a giveaway, everyone received a Candy bar with the inscription “You are wonderful” and all the women received a rose. This was followed by a delicious potluck that left nothing to be desired, and I realized once again how wonderful the conversations at the table were. After a short break, we moved on to the afternoon program, which was structured like a workshop.
The first part consisted of using photo cards to identify one's personal goals and motivations, and then in the second part, expressing this practically using craft materials in a so-called vision board or painted and decorated stones. Anyone who desired to do so was allowed to briefly present their work, and I was deeply touched by the thoughts and feelings that each of us felt inside. A cozy refreshment break with homemade cake rounded off our get-together.
Afterwards, there was a huge surprise for us ladies, because the men had also gotten together in the meantime and rewritten the lyrics to a brilliant song, which they performed for us at the end. We were thrilled and deeply moved. Thank you so much for this wonderful day, which I will remember for a long time to come."
