On Sunday, April 23, fifty women from the near and far met for a women's breakfast meeting at the Adventist church in Müllheim, Baden-Württemberg. The beautifully decorated room and delicious buffet meal created a delightful atmosphere where the women laughed, chatted, got to know each other, and told stories. It was a gathering of different generations, from young women, the "golden middle ages" to mature, wise ladies. A motley mix with motley conversations.
The program provided not only for the physical well-being but also for forms of movement of the
mental, physical, and spiritual kind. In an interesting, humorous, and interactive lecture Tine Kunst, a consultant at the employment agency, considered the felt needs of every participant and expanded the understanding of the diversity of people with their special talents and behavioral patterns. She spoke on her chosen topic "Gifts and abilities given by God" in her heartfelt manner and with professional know-how.
Questions were answered like: Am I really uniquely created by God? What defines me as a person? (and what are my gifts/abilities/skills/knowledge). How do I recognize my gifts? How do I know how and where God wants me to be involved? What helps me to implement my goals in a concrete way with success?
It was especially important to Tine that the women take away suggestions that they can easily put into practice. Through a small personality test designed as a game, the women were able to identify some of their strengths/gifts. Tine's goal was to motivate each one of them in a completely new way to use their abilities to become actively involved in the family, their job, and especially in the community and the life of the church and missionary work. Finally, all guests received a handout with which they could work out their personal goals at home.
About a third of the participants were guests. Different members of the team led through the program so that all women felt addressed in their own way. The day was a result of joint planning and design. The selection of songs and singing together touched the guests very much as everyone sang along. At the end of this blessed women's breakfast, the team distributed tulip bouquets with a bookmark and the devotional journal "Living with Biblical Promises" by Astrid Schröer to all present. After the closing prayer and the official end, the participants remained seated in silence, and so spontaneous piano music was played while the women enjoyed the music and reflected on what they had heard and experienced. The women went home strengthened, enriched, and motivated. Many guests are requesting information as to when there will be more such events in the region.
We thank our God for blessing and sustaining the project from the start, according to 1 Peter 4:10 NIV “Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.”
