On the weekend of February 23-25, 2024, the first Romanian women's weekend took place at the Christian meeting and conference center in Michelsberg. Mihaela Georg, as the main organizer, and her group welcomed over 50 Romanian-speaking women to the topic "A Woman after God's Heart". This weekend was organized and carried out by the Women's Ministries Department iof the Central Rhenish Conference.
The varied program started on Friday evening, after the evening meal, with an introduction to the topic. The whole weekend was filled with surprises that were prepared with a lot of love - starting with crafted folders and bookmarks waiting for the participants on the seats, to chocolate sweets on the pillows in the bedrooms and printed bags with the words "Glad You are here " as a farewell gift. The highlight of the surprises was the story of the pearl on Saturday evening. As a gift, each woman received a live oyster containing at least one colorful freshwater pearl - pink, white, black, green, purple, or blue. Did you know that each color symbolizes something specific?
An extremely pleasant and unexpected surprise was the online meeting with Daniela Piroski (Conference Women's Department Director) and Dany Canedo (Women’s Ministries Director in both German Unions. Since both were unable to be present at this meeting of Romanian-speaking women, they wanted to welcome us via Zoom. The opening speech by Daniela Piroski on Sabbath morning, in Romanian, impressed and delighted the audience! The program continued with the Sabbath School in groups, moderated by Aurora Rizea, the sermon by Elida Oncea and the presentation of various books in Romanian and German. In keeping with the occasion a donation was also collected for the women's shelter in Göppingen.
Our speaker Elida Oncea (Women’s Ministries and Shepherdess director in Austria)
succeeded in creating a pleasant and exciting atmosphere through the way she presented the topics,
The role of women in society was emphasized: a woman after God's own heart should be "clothed with the sun" (Revelation 12:1), i.e. clothed in the righteousness of Jesus Christ and a be missionary in her family, and neighborhood, and to the ends of the earth. In addition, she should love justice and mercy and be humble before God (Micah 6:8).
The short workshop on Sunday enabled the participants to work together in small groups to analyze various Bible passages in which one or more women stood up for justice (Deborah, Abigail, etc.). They acted wisely and with courage, mercy, and grace for those in need (Esther, Naomi & Ruth, the maid of Naaman's house, etc.) A woman after God's own heart knows her worth and her place in society and before God.
The highlight of Saturday afternoon was the concert by coloratura soprano Mediana Vlad, which she performed together with her two children Timeea and Dezias. Both Mediana's voice and the experience of her fight against cancer moved the hearts of those present to tears. The fact that Mediana presented herself as a normal woman and not a diva overcame all barriers and created a warm relationship with the audience.
On Saturday evening, Mihaela Georg surprised the participants once again with an alcohol-free cocktail evening. Thus ended an eventful day with a colorful range of different emotions
The women felt very comfortable together this weekend and were very grateful for the organization and the opportunity to participate in such a unique event. They returned home spiritually enriched and were already making plans for the future.
