I was looking forward to the sermon with Dennis Meier on the enditnow day in Luebeck on January 27, 2024. The story of Joseph's five granddaughters was unknown to me. And yet it is such an important story for women in this world. In Genesis 27:1-11, we learn about Machlah, Noah, Hoglah, Milcah and Tirzah. The story tells us about the injustice against women and how these five women courageously stood up for their rights. It is a rather unknown story, just a side note in the account of how Moses led the Israelites into the Promised Land. They appear before Moses and all the important men. It was about the inheritance of their father, who died without sons. And God proved them right...! Justice happened because they were brave. There were five women. Perhaps this is also an indication that I need fellow worshippers and fellow warriors who walk the path with me and help me grow the courage to change. When women become courageous and stand up for justice, wonderful things happen. Elisabeth Selbert was one such woman. She brought equal rights into the German constitution (Grundgesetz). It is worth taking a look at her life.
A parallel program was held for the little ones, teens, and youth. In the afternoon, we had a post-sermon discussion. We were able to exchange ideas and reflect on what we had learned. We ended the day with coffee and cake.
