The Adventist Church in Gerona hosted an event organized by the Women's Ministries (WM) as part of the international ‘enditnow’ campaign. The meeting focused on preventing violence and building personal resilience, with guidance from Mercedes Martínez, WM Director for the Spanish Union. The common thread throughout the conference was resilience, approached in a practical and accessible way. The main objective was to offer tools for managing life's difficulties from a spiritual and community perspective, promoting well-being and personal recovery.
Friday, November 14 — The strength of those who were not heard.
The opening day was dedicated to the silent experiences that many people carry with them. To illustrate this reality and the struggle for recognition, biblical examples were used, such as the case of Tamar, a symbol of those who were unjustly marginalized and had to fight for their worth. The importance of recognizing these experiences and giving them the space necessary for proper understanding was emphasized, thus initiating a process of healing.
Sabbath, November 15 — God's Path to Resilience: Protected by Faith
The morning session addressed the role of faith as an anchor in times of difficulty. It explored how spiritual principles and community support provide stability, guidance, and comfort for those in vulnerable situations.
Sabbath Afternoon Workshop — “From Trauma to Restoration: God Doesn't Forget Your Wounds”
In a practical and interactive format, the afternoon focused on personal recovery after painful experiences. The workshop worked on identifying and understanding the effects of trauma, offering simple tools and guided reflection. A key message was emphasized: “You are not alone in the healing process,” reinforcing the importance of mutual support for sustained recovery.
Sunday 16 — Ladies' Breakfast
The weekend concluded with an exclusive gathering for women, a space for camaraderie that facilitated deeper discussion of the topics covered, and the sharing of personal experiences, closing the cycle on a note of mutual support.
Legacy of the day
The ‘enditnow’ program in Gerona offered the community tools, reflection, and a space for open dialogue on a crucial issue. Resilience, understood as a spiritual gift and a practical skill, emerged as the main message of hope, sealed with an inspiring biblical text: “We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed” (2 Corinthians 4:8-9 NIV).
