“Cravings of the Soul” in Tenerife

Women’s Ministries Emphasis Day

On June 21, the Women's Ministries of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Tenerife experienced an unforgettable day with the topic Cravings of the soul. It was a day full of blessings and fellowship. From morning to afternoon, the church witnessed a carefully prepared program, where every detail, from the Sabbath School to the decoration of the sanctuary, was the fruit of the love and dedication of a beautiful group of sisters. The Women’s Ministries director of the church wants to express her joy and gratitude to the whole team who, with care and affection, made this day special for everyone present.
The church was filled with members, visitors, and interested parties, who enjoyed not only the warmth of the atmosphere but above all, the central message of the service, entitled “Cravings of the Soul”. This message, authored by Sisters Nancy Cabrera and Maria Ellen Winegardner, invited us to reflect on three fundamental lessons for the Christian life, all related to the letter “i”: Identity, Intimacy, and Intention.
Identity: Sons and Daughters of God
The reflection began by reminding us who we are in Christ. Our identity does not depend on circumstances, but on the eternal truth that we are sons and daughters of God. As 1 John 3:1 says: “See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God!” Recognizing our identity in Him gives us security and purpose.
Intimacy: a personal relationship
The second point led us to think about intimacy with our Savior. It is not just a matter of knowing about God, but of knowing him personally, of having a living and constant relationship with Jesus. Like the Samaritan woman at the well, we long for that “living water” that only Christ can give. “‘Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, 14 but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life’” (John 4:13-14).
Intention: living with purpose
Finally, we were encouraged to live intentionally, to be aware that every day is an opportunity to glorify God and serve others. Philippians 2:13 reminds us, “For it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfil his good purpose.”
This special day not only strengthened the faith of those present but also motivated all to continue seeking God with a sincere heart, allowing the One who is the source of eternal life to satisfy our soul's cravings. May this message continue to inspire our church to live with identity, intimacy, and intention in Christ Jesus.
