Camp for Families with Special Needs in Transilvania, Romania

The Forest of Dreams

From August 19-22, 2022, in Sălciua, 27 people enjoyed the first edition of a camp for families with children with neuro-functional diversity, organized by the "Centre for Special Education, Ianna-Floare-aleasă". The camp was called "The Forest of Dreams." On this occasion, creative activities were carried out to help everyone improve their relationships, confidence, and autonomy, and the children's personal and social development was pursued through games and the making of sensorial, personalized materials. There were also seminars on health and lifestyle by nutritionist and dietician Gabriel Bojboi Ph.D. and heartfelt moments for parents. “Take care of my child!” was an activity in which parents connected and played with the children of other families. For 60 minutes they walked a trail with different challenges, games, and sensory activities. At the end of this activity, parents shared their experiences with others, understanding that their child is the greatest value God has given them. Lots of hikes helped the children get closer to nature in a safe environment and, of course, there was a lot of good music and group games. A the end of this wonderful experience the parents said goodbye in an atmosphere full of enthusiasm, hoping to meet again in a future edition of this camp program.
