From August 7 to September 5, 2024, the second edition of Camp Equator took place in Uganda (Africa). Carried out by the Association Hearts without Borders, it is a large humanitarian action aimed at bringing a glimmer of hope and a new horizon to the beneficiaries of the projects.
Thus, 37 young Romanians, doctors, nurses, teachers, engineers, students, and even students joined hands to set up medical and educational camps and some construction work in four locations where more than 600 children are already enrolled in the long-distance sponsorship program.
A group of eleven sisters from the Banat Conference participated in this large team, helping out where needed, according to their talents. Over two to four weeks, the medical students helped on the medical side, the construction engineer helped to build a kitchen, and the language student and her teacher helped with education at the three schools. What's more, they all helped to distribute aid: shoes, clothes, glasses, books, pencils, and food to those in need. The joy of receiving a gift of glasses, slippers, a book, or pencils, all donated by people with big and loving hearts, filled the souls of the recipients with great gratitude.
There were beautiful experiences when people who could no longer distinguish objects received glasses and could see again, or when they received their first pair of slippers.
