Bringing our Children to the Lord

A project in Bari, Italy

Data and statistics show that young people increasingly tend to drift away from the church, especially during adolescence. This year, the Women's Ministries of the Adventist Church of Bari, taking up the worldwide need to make our churches more welcoming and inspiring to young people, has initiated a long-term project entitled "Bringing Our Children to the Lord."
The project has a twofold goal: to pray intensively for children who no longer attend church, analyzing biblical advice that can help us in our relationship with them; and at the same time, to train parents to understand the differences in their relationships with their now-adult children. Interpersonal relationships with the younger generation is a topic of interest to all church members, so that they can understand the new methods of approaching young people and embark on unexplored paths of prayer.
Thus, a group was formed that is highly motivated by the desire to get involved in improving relationships in the family sphere, which, in turn, affect relationships with the church. Prayer meetings take place virtually every evening at 9:30 p.m., as the names of young people are presented to the Lord in prayer.
Training sessions, on the other hand, take place once a month. More dates have been added to the dates on the first poster by popular demand from the group. The last meeting for this church year was held on June 22.
For these meetings, we use the seminar "Prayer and Love Save" by Dorothy Eaton Watts, prepared a few years ago by the Women's Ministries Department of the General Conference. The seminar encourages parents to overcome their feelings of guilt, to find support in an atmosphere of mutual concern, to develop the ability to build strong interpersonal relationships with adult children and their families, and to intercede in prayer for these children.
Young people on our list are sent, from time to time, little messages on whatsapp with our greetings or with souvenir photos of programs they attended when they attended church. Everyone responds affectionately. Our desire is to create a beautiful event and invite them to a joyful reunion! Let the Holy Spirit work in their hearts! We, on a personal level, will continue to pray and grow spiritually.
