Women’s Ministries and Gerd-Laila Walter are almost synonymous in Austria. 21 years ago Gerd-Laila was asked to lead out in developing Women’s Ministries for the Austrian Union of Seventh-Day Adventists and she has been the Director of the Women’s Ministries Department ever since. A true pioneer, she has put her heart and soul into the work, nurturing and empowering women so they can reach out to others. In addition to the annual women’s retreats and leadership seminars she has also helped develop the Hope4You program and Girls4Christ in Austria. Gerd-Laila Walter says that she has learned so much during this time herself, and stresses that it is only through God’s grace and with His strength that she has been able to do this work. Now the time has come for her to step down as she has reached retirement age. She is looking forward to spending more time with her husband, a retired pastor who loves to travel. At the women’s retreat in Mondsee from April 27-29, her last event as director, Gerd-Laila received lots of good wishes for her retirement as well as thanks for all that she has done for the women of Austria. May God bless her as she looks back on a successful ministry for the Lord.
