Jasmin Stanoschefsky wanted to share her faith with friends but felt that she was not very successful in friendship evangelism. “If only my friend would pick up her Bible as often as she picks up her mobile phone,” she thought. “But you can’t force people to get a Bible app and read the Bible daily.” During my devotional time I had an idea: If she doesn’t read the Bible I had given her, why not make the Bible come to her on a daily basis in a powerful and attractive way? Why not use social media like Instagram to reach people? They were more interested in fashion, art, hand-lettering than in God and His Word.
Jasmin had started to copy and illustrate Bible texts in order to memorize them and she soon realized the power pictures have to plant a message from God’s Word into hearts. Why couldn’t she post her pictures on Instagram as daily messages for her friends? Jasmin prayed about her project and asked God to bless her creativity even though she was no Frida Kahlo or Pablo Picasso. Thus her project “Artventist” was born.
In social media people like you and I are working as influencers for brands to create engaging and successful campaigns. Influencer marketing is engaging audiences in a way traditional marketing can’t. Why not be an “Influencer for Jesus”? What Jasmin then experienced is quite amazing. God blessed her with new contacts and possibilities.
With the talents God has given us we can share our faith and be a light for others. Social media have changed our lives in a radical way. What was impossible a hundred years ago is now possible: sharing an image with countless people all over the world with just a single click. Christians have a wonderful possibility to share their faith in God and pass on positive impulses.
