Alyssa Truman Elected GC Communication Director

A Step forward: Department Director is Younger and a Woman

On July 8, 2025, Alyssa Truman was elected to serve as director of communication for the General Conference of Seventh-day Adventists. Truman has been the assistant director of communication for the past three years. She replaces Williams Costa, who has served as director for more than 15 years. A historic choice, she becomes the third woman to lead General Conference Communication since the department’s founding.
Truman was a marketing manager for Adventist World Radio prior to becoming the assistant director of communication. She graduated with an MA in pastoral ministries from Andrews University in 2025. She has three daughters, and her husband, Trent, is the Creative Projects Manager for the North American Division.
