A wholesome place for abused souls

Impressions from the “Quiet weekend” of the consulting committee for sexual abuse victims

Quiet weekend – it sounds like resting, enjoying, having time to leave all burdens behind. But it is much more. The quiet weekend is organized by the German consulting committee for sexual abuse victims once in two years for people who have experienced abuse. It takes place in a safe anonymous place.
In an article in the German church paper Adventisten Heute, August 2017, three participants express their appreciation for the weekend (p. 20). They felt loved and pampered, were able to let go of some of the pain they had experienced. They realized that the church is seriously engaging in efforts to end abuse and help victims to heal.
According to a report by Angelika Pfaller, WM director for the German Unions.
