A Weekend for Single Parents

Because companionship is good for you

From September 27 to 29, 2024, the second weekend for single parents took place in the autumnal Swabian Alb with Raimund Fuchs from Austria under the motto ‘Because companionship is good for you.’
On Friday night the participants were reminded of what is important in life and how to set priorities correctly so that life can be fulfilling instead of overwhelming. With a lovely Sabbath surprise in hand, all went to bed tired but happy, ready to recharge their batteries for the next few days. On this weekend, the children were wonderfully looked after so that the participants could follow Raimund Fuchs' lectures undisturbed. His calm and open manner was appealing. Some of the topics addressed were ‘Can you be happy alone?’ and ‘Who meets my needs?’
There was time for personal encounters and fellowship with the children and each other. It seemed like our little ones were making friends too, so they hardly needed their parents. Some took the opportunity to go for a walk, while others rested.
After tea and cake in the afternoon, the participants split into discussion groups to share openly about hurts, traumas, sexuality issues, and biblical views. There was a confidential, fearless, and welcoming atmosphere that allowed everyone to share whatever was on their mind.
The big highlight for young and old alike was the campfire with stick bread in the evening.
On Sunday morning, Raimund dealt with the topics 'Biblical strategies against negative feelings' and 'Speaking of education: the challenges of exceptions'. These topics were very well received and showed us how to take everything to the cross and let Jesus renew our thinking.
It was difficult to say goodbye, and some stayed for hours after the end of the event to continue exchanging ideas and strengthening each other.
One thing is certain: God's protection is assured and he always looks after us, even if we experience fear in difficult situations.
